Adjoa is a UK-born Twi Tribal Soul Artist, fusing her unique soul vocals with chants in the dialect of Twi and in English, and vibrant traditional percussion of her Ghanaian heritage.
Her “Adinkra” EP, is based around the theme of the Adinkra symbols of the Akan people of Ghana, Adjoa’s heritage. Each symbol is a stylized geometric image expressing proverbs or a message of the Akan people. Adjoa’s songs each reflect the theme of one of the Adinkra symbols.
As one DJ said “The organic sound of acoustic traditional percussion is a perfect backbone to Adjoa’s supple and warm vocals, most of which are delivered in the Ghanaian language of Twi”. It’s the perfect backdrop to your day working, or your evening relaxing.
