Thanks to Okay Africa and Accra dot Alt Radio for these stunning images of pioneering Ghanaian photographer James Barnor who brought colour photography to Ghana via his studio which he named ‘Ever Young’, based in the Jamestown area of Accra, Ghana’s capital. Now in his 80s, he is based in London. His work spans 6 decades, and is being discovered by new, younger audiences and audiences across the globe with exhibitions in countries Ghana, France, the Netherlands and Lebanon.
I love this image which says so much about Ghana and it’s beautiful traditional culture. Join me to hear my music which fuses my traditional Ghanaian influences with soul music at my gig at the Green Note Camden, coming up Friday July 20th.
