Adjoa Akoma celebrates the beauty within and around us through her voice, music, percussion and dance; fusing her 'frankly fabulous' soul vocals with vibrant percussion of her Ghanaian ancestry.

Adjoa completed recording her 'Adinkra' EP project with her long term collaborator Ghanaian master percussionist Emmanuel Tagoe (David Bowie, Grand Union). There are also stellar performances on a couple of her tracks by renowned Ghanaian guitarist Kari Bannerman (Ibibio Sound Machine, Osibisa)

The EP is based on the theme of the Adinkra symbols of the Akan people of Ghana, Adjoa’s heritage. Each symbol is a stylized geometric image expressing proverbs or a message of the Akan people.

Adjoa was highlighted as a ‘Project We Love’ following her successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.  Her single 'Damé Damé has been featured on 6 Radio, as a Tom Robinson favourite on the Introducing Mixtape, and voted a Top 5 "Fresh Fave" by his listeners. She was invited for her debut USA radio interview about her project, with DJ Ahzjah on the Global Beats radio show, Radio WRFG, Georgia.  Singles have been played and acclaimed by DJ Debbie of Outerglobe on Resonance FM, Jazz FM, Peter Culshaw of the Arts Desk and London African music DJ Wala.
